Large-scale sound installation Ring Out filled Newbury’s Market Place on Monday, with hundreds of people braving the rain to watch the performances.
Six towers holding bell-like speakers were set up, playing different electric tones in a piece by the award-winning composer Ray Lee.
Ring Out was developed at the Corn Exchange’s 101 Outdoor Art Creation Space, with additional performances being staged in Hull and London over the summer.
Mr Lee said: “It was an overwhelming sense of relief that it had all come together and we’d managed to make it happen in time.
“But also, when I stepped back and tried to experience the piece, a feeling that it was both terrifying and strangely compelling at the same time.”
