Plans to build another 157 homes in Newbury have been recommended for approval tonight.
Developer Rivar Limited is looking to build the homes on land between Pinchington Lane and Greenham Road.
The homes would be built in two separate parcels, after the site was approved for housing in West Berkshire Council’s development plan document in 2015.
It comes after proposals for 71 homes on the opposite side of Greenham Road were given the go-ahead last month.
The new plans are set to be discussed at tonight’s meeting of the western area planning committee.
In the pre-meeting report, principal planning officer Michael Butler wrote: “On the one hand, there will inevitably be some visual and landscape character impact by virtue of the loss of the open area.
“There will also be a degree of traffic impact in what is already a relatively congested area at peak periods. However, among the environmental benefits will be the full remediation of this landfill site ready for residential occupation.
“The latter is considered a substantial benefit, as it could not be done at the public cost.”
