Falkland Cricket Club’s disappointing run of form continued as they lost to Cookham Dean by 13 runs in their Thames Valley Cricket League Division One fixture on Saturday.
Cookham Dean had set a total of 214-5 from their 50 overs, with Falkland’s Khalid Zafar Malik, Charlie Dale, Jimmy Shaw, Daminda Kolugula and Jason Williams sharing out the wickets.
Falkland had looked in trouble early on in their innings as they were reduced to 93-7, before a not out 48 from Williams got them back into the match, but it wasn’t to be enough as Saad Altaf fell for 19 to leave Falkland 13 runs short of their target.
They sit eighth in the Division One table, 20 points above Marlow in the drop zone.
Elsewhere, Thatcham Town picked up their second successive Division 2B win after beating Hurst.
A century from Josh O’Flynn helped Thatcham set a strong target of 250-6, while Hurst could only reach 178 in reply.
But Newbury are in trouble after they were overwhelmingly beaten by Finchampstead 3rds. Finchampstead declared on 232-1, before bowling Newbury out for just 117.
It sees Newbury 30 points adrift at the bottom of Division 3A, with two games left to try and save themselves from relegation.
