A programme of events to encourage the over 50s to get active has been launched by West Berkshire Council.
Activities including walking football, badminton and spinning are on offer at the Northcroft Leisure Centre in Newbury and Cotswold Sports Centre in Tilehurst as art of ‘Fit for Life’.
The programme has been set up by the council’s public health and wellbeing team, in partnership with Legacy Leisure and Get Berkshire Active.
Graham Jones, the council’s executive member for health and wellbeing, said: “It is so important that we find new and interesting ways to encourage older adults to be more active.
“Not only does taking part in physical activity help people to live healthier lives but also happier lives.
“Through these projects we will be offering many new ways for people to take up a new activity, meet other people and build up their personal wellbeing.”
