Hungerford Town have made a strong start to their National League South campaign after picking up a draw and a win in their opening two matches.
A 0-0 stalemate with the highly fancied Dartford on Saturday followed a 2-0 win at home to Weston-super-Mare on Monday.
Saturday’s game was a tough fixture to begin the season with, with Dartford being the favourites for promotion on the back of their third place in the table last season.
More than 900 people watched the game which provided only a few goal-scoring chances.
Louie Soares came close to scoring for Hungerford in the second half as his shot went into the side netting, but the Crusaders were happy to come away from the game with a point.
In Monday’s match, Callum Willmoth grabbed Hungerford’s first goal of the season by hitting the top corner from 30 yards moments before half-time.
It didn’t take long after the break for Hungerford to double their advantage, with Luke Williams converting a free kick to secure the victory.
After Tuesday night’s games Hungerford are fifth in the standings with four points. They next host Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday, before travelling to Oxford City on Tuesday evening.
