A Greenham man accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in a Newbury field has been cleared.
Yesterday jurors at Reading Crown Court unanimously found Jake Hatter, 21, of Peckmoor Drive, not guilty of rape and of engaging in sexual activity with a child.
It was alleged that Mr Hatter had raped the girl in a field near her house in November 2014, and he was arrested in December 2015.
During the trial Mr Hatter’s police interview was read out, in which he said that it was the girl who instigated sex by putting her hand on his crotch.
The girl had said that she made it clear she wasn’t consenting to sex, but this was ultimately dismissed by the jury.
