It wasn’t the most successful weekend for Team Kennet Athletics Club but they still picked up a few good results in their opening Southern Athletics League match.
They finished bottom of the pack in their first Division 3 South West match of the season, although a lighter team than expected did take its toll.
An early win came as Stuart Bladon won the B-string high jump after clearing 1.70m, while Joe Osler was second in the A-string with 1.80m.
Susie Drake took victory in the 400m hurdles, while Cheryl Angell recorded her first win in the hammer after throwing 18.31m and Rhea Walter triumphed in the women’s 2k steeplechase.
In the men’s throws, the best result came as Simon Hockaday took second in the B-string shot putt, while Osler got bronze in the triple jump after leaping 12.51m.
The men’s steeplechase saw Bradley Thomas settle for third and Nick Bull second in the A and B strings respectively.
There were some strong showings from the younger members, in particular Tait Weekes, Zach Montgomery and Daniel Hockaday.
