Junior members of Team Kennet Athletics Club made a strong start to their Wessex Young Athletes League season after finishing second in the opening fixture at the weekend.
Their final total of 401 points meant they were only narrowly beaten by City of Salisbury on 433 at the meeting in Kings Park, Bournemouth.
Ben East starred for the under-15 boys as he threw a massive 47.36m in the javelin to break the club record and keep him as the UK number two.
The under-13 boys also saw some good results as Gabrielle Warley leapt 1.44m to win the A-string high jump, with team-mate Matthew Jones clearing 1.30m to take the B-string triumph.
Tait Weekes and Daniel Hockaday got a double win in the under-17s long jump, as well as earning podium finishes in the sprint races and relay.
For the girls, Phoebe Hoaen threw a personal best 33.08m in the under-15s javelin for a double win alongside Sophie Wheadon, with the duo repeating the feat in the discus.
Under-17 runner Rosa Lawrence also set a personal best as she won the B-string 1,500m in a time of 5.24.9.
In the under-13 girls, Emily Tucker, Beth King, Lottie Absolom, Annabel Gibson and Georgina Passmore all achieved top-three finishes.
