A closely fought final match saw Thames Valley Kings’ under-19s team just miss out on victory in the finals of the British Wheelchair Basketball Junior League.
The Tornado Kings were the top seeds and roared into the finals after a 41-6 win over London AllStars and a 20-15 triumph against MavKings.
They then faced Wolverhampton Wolves in their last game, but it wasn’t to be as they were beaten 26-21 to end the day in second.
Kings player Joe Humphreys said: “The experience I got from taking part in the junior league allowed me to improve massively as a player. I love the event and the atmosphere that it had.”
It was a tougher afternoon for the under-15 side, who despite three very close games were unable to get a win on the board.
They were beaten 29-23 by North Wales Knights, 16-15 by Jaguars and 14-12 by the Viking Hoglets.
Elsewhere, the senior Division Four team also struggled as they were beaten 29-23 by Sportable Rockets and 23-19 by Swindon Shock.
