A Thatcham man has been jailed after he was found in possession of 40 wraps of cocaine and heroin.
Ricky Ashworth, of Derwent Road, was sentenced to 28 months in prison at Reading Crown Court on June 26 after pleading guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply.
The 36-year-old had been stopped by police officers in Carsdale Close in Reading at around 3.15pm on May 23 this year.
He had been seen earlier that day in the Southcote area of Reading in what was believed to be a drug deal.
Ashworth was arrested and was found to have 40 wraps of drugs on him, which later turned out to be cocaine and heroin.
He also forfeited £300 in cash and was charged the same day. The drugs that were seized were destroyed.
Investigating officer DC Andy Carroll said: “This successful conviction and sentence by the crown court sends a clear message that the police do not tolerate drug dealing within our local communities.
“Hopefully it will make people think twice before involving themselves in this form of criminality.”
