After a recent spell of good results, Thatcham Town Cricket Club were comprehensively beaten in their game against Hurst on Saturday.
They lost by eight wickets after their 197 target didn’t prove to be enough on a day when Hurst’s early batters were on top form.
Thatcham batted first and made a decent start, with Josh O’Flynn reaching 50 and Steven Bartholomew 30.
The wickets started to fall away after they passed the 100 mark, however, and Thatcham were all out for 197 in the 51st over.
It only took Hurst until their 32nd over to surpass that, with Alex Kayser hitting 74 and Usman Ijaz 54, as well as being helped by Thatcham giving away 45 in extras.
Thatcham are down to seventh in Division 2B, and visit High Wycombe 2nds on Saturday.
Elsewhere, the wait for a win goes on for Newbury Cricket Club as they lost their sixth straight match on Saturday, this time against Finchampstead 3rds.
Newbury were all out for a lowly 91, with only Charlie Anstey, Simon Digweed, Neil Farrow and Bobby Vynatheya managing to post double figure scores.
To their credit Newbury did manage to get five wickets off Finchampstead – four coming courtesy of Kevin Mills, but it didn’t help in stopping an inevitable defeat.
