Thatcham Town Cricket Club moved back up to fifth in Division 2B of the Thames Valley Cricket League with a 123-run victory over High Wycombe 2nds on Saturday.
Half centuries from Peter Spriggs (62) and Duncan Johnson (50), along with 20-plus scores from Tom Mahoney, John Williams and Steven Bartholomew, helped Thatcham set a benchmark of 227-9.
And aside from Paul Sawyer’s 45, High Wycombe couldn’t offer much in response as they were all out for just 104, with Chris Bird collecting six wickets.
Thatcham leapfrogged High Wycombe in the standings as a result, and are now chasing down Slough 2nds in fourth.
Elsewhere, Charlie Anstey and Martin Walker’s stunning batting displays saw Newbury cruise past Reading 2nds with a nine wicket win.
Reading were all out for 130, with Anstey picking up five wickets to limit all of their batters to less than 30 runs each.
The opener then scored 64 with the bat alongside Walker’s 58 as Newbury reached 134-1 in the 30th over, with Vivek Srivastava the only casualty as he went for a duck.
It keeps Newbury third in Division 3A, as they hunt down league leaders Aldershot and Sonning.
Thatcham are away to Chiswick & Whitton in their next match on Saturday, while Newbury pay a visit to Yateley 2nds.
